Xbox went big guns with their Xbox Games Showcase event and we got some stellar announcements that we didn’t see coming.
From Obsidian’s new AAA RPG to Playground Games huge endeavor into the fantasy world of Fable, here are all the big announcements that happened at today’s event.

1. Halo Infinite campaign gameplay reveal

Microsoft kicked off the show with their biggest game of this year: Halo Infinite and gave us an extended taste of a demo running in real time. Halo Infinite takes a page right out of the critically acclaimed Halo Combat Evolved and lets up explore vast open spaces.

Also thanks to the new Splitspace engine, Halo Infinite will be running at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X.

2. Avowed: Obsidian’s AAA RPG

The elephant in the room and obviously a shocker is Obsidian’s next big AAA game under the Xbox banner. Avowed is a first person RPG set in the fantastical land of Eora, which is in the same world as Obsidian’s other RPG series: Pillars of Eternity.

The first person perspective is a certain nod to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls games and we can’t wait to see more of this next-gen RPG.

3. A new Fable game from PlayGround Games

Speaking of RPG’s, Today’s Xbox Games’ Showcase ended with Playground Games  finally giving us a glimpse of a new Fable game. We only got a short teaser and the game’s logo but the industry’s worst kept secret is finally out in the wild and we absolutely can’t wait to bring what the Forza Horizon series brings to the medieval fantasy world of Fable.

4.State of Decay 3 teaser

The next entry in the State of Decay series takes us to snow landscape with much more horrific enemies to fight and tools to tinker. A short teaser gives us a glimpse of the new location as well as a bunch of mutated enemies that we can’t wait to take down with our friends.  No release window has been confirmed yet.

5.Everwild  story trailer

Rare’s next big title: Everwild looks absolutely breathtaking. The new trailer takes into the heart of wilderness where various fantastical creatures and humans live together in harmony. As surreal and though-provoking Everwild looks, we still don’t know how it plays. Hopefully we will hear and see more about the game in the coming months.

6.  The Medium’s dual:world gameplay looks to take full advantage of next-gen

The Medium looks to fill up the horror space that Silent Hill games created in our hearts with its striking visuals and tense narrative. It is also looking to take full advantage of Xbox Series X’s SSD as the game renders two different realities concurrently in the game, leading to more complex set pieces and horrific encounters.

The Medium is releasing this holiday season though there’s no release date as of now.

7. Forza MotorSport is the next Forza

Turn 10 studios gave us a cinematic look at the next Forza Motorsport game which is surprisingly not labelled as the “eight” installment. There is no release window confirmed so it may be that the game is far from release as of now.

Destiny 2’s latest expansion: Beyond Light is releasing November 10th  and it will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass day one.The latest trailer gives us a glimpse of the new abilities that let players freeze and shatter their enemies.
Bungie has also confirmed that Destiny 2 will be enhanced for PS5 and Xbox Series later next year.

9. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is headed to Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass

Ten years after its initial announcement, the first person, post apocalyptic game S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 will be headlining Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass later next year.

A brand new trailer revealed its dark, atmospheric world with dense forests and crumbling buildings. It is also the first Stalker game since 2009’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat.
