This PS5 event will clock in at about 40 minutes as confirmed by the PlayStation Blog and has the calibre to be as surprising and exciting as Sony’s E3 2016 conference. ( Yes it does) That being said, here are the top 5 game announcements that we expect may happen at this highly anticipated PS5 event.

Top 5 Games You Can Expect at PlayStation 5 Showcase event

5. Final Fantasy 16

It has been four years since the last mainline entry in the magical Final Fantasy series released to positive responses from its global, ever-growing audience. Whereas the development has already begun on part 2 of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake that came out this year, we doubt that it’s anywhere near to being announced or released.

Final Fantasy 16, however, is a different case. The rumours surrounding the game has picked up significantly since the last couple of months, especially after a mysterious Twitter account for the game was discovered.

What’s most interesting to note here is the reaction of Shinji Hashimoto, the brand manager of Final Fantasy, who retweeted ( and quickly deleted) the PS5 event announcement. Many fans believe that Hashimoto doesn’t retweet such news unless there’s an announcement on the horizon.

Square Enix and Luminous Productions, the team that worked on Final Fantasy 15 have also announced their next game which as of now is referred to as “Project Athia”. It would be interesting to see whether this is the game that will get the limelight at Sony’s upcoming PS5 event or it’s the rumoured Final Fantasy 16 or perhaps they are both one and the same?

4.  Ghost Of Tsushima PS5 reveal alongside co-op multiplayer

With the renounced success of Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 both commercially and critically, Sucker Punch is hard at work in delivering a unique co-op multiplayer mode for the game this fall, free of cost for its existing PS4 user base.

We do not know much about Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends, aside from the fact it doesn’t feature Jin or the characters from the game’s single-player campaign. Players can choose from four different classes: the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin, details on which are yet to be revealed.

We expect Ghost Of Tsushima: Legends to be a part of this PS5 event, alongside the base game that may also be the part of Sony’s next-gen system. Alongside some major visual overhauls, such as raytracing and a 60 fps mode for the single-player game, we hope that Ghost of Tsushima: Legends pull off a 120 fps mode on the PS5.

3. Silent Hill reboot

A Silent Hill reboot has been long rumoured to be making its way on Sony’s PS5. The infamous insider Dusk Gohlem has been consistently saying that a Silent Hill reboot is happening and is currently in development at Sony Japan Studios.

He also went on to confirm that this next-gen Silent Hill game is currently early in development and won’t be a launch title for PS5.  Legendary Composer Akira Yamaoka, who has worked on the previous Silent Hill games is also rumoured to be a part of this project.

Whereas Sony has no plans to purchase the IP from Konami, it seems like it will be a one-time collaborative affair between the two Japanese giants. An announcement at Sony’s upcoming PS5 event seems favourable.

2. A sequel to 2018’s God Of War

This is the announcement that the PlayStation fans are desperately waiting for and will most likely be a key factor for the remaining  Xbox users to jump onto the PlayStation hype train this generation.

Cory Barlog, the creative director of God Of War confirmed back in 2018 that the next game in the franchise won’t take as long a development time like 2018 one. Speaking to Kotaku, he stated that for the PS4 reboot the company had to start from scratch and that they “redid’ the entire core-engine.

Whereas the gap between the last two God Of War games is 5 years, it’s safe to assume that its next-gen sequel may likely arrive by early 2022 and hence an announcement at this week’s event seems inevitable.

1. An Uncharted reboot

Sony is dedicated to expanding their worldwide Studios and their latest one at San Diego may very well be working on possibly the biggest PS5 game of all time.  According to the job listings, this highly confidential San Diego studio is working on a third-person action in collaboration with a major Sony studio. What’s more, is that one of the employees from this new studio was seen working with Naughty Dog according to a resetera column.

An Uncharted reboot can go in many different directions. Moreover, Uncharted as a franchise has a lot of potentials and Sony isn’t naive enough to retire such a prestigious franchise. Here’s hoping we may hear or see more about this new studio’s take on the Uncharted franchise very soon.
