One Piece is an animated adventure series focused on a boy called Monkey D. Luffy who wants to be the king of all pirates. This series is created by Eiichiro Oda. The show follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew. This is a highly popular anime because of the number of episodes it has and also because of its quirky comedy.
The show’s first season originally aired in 1999. The series currently consists of 986 Episodes (ongoing), 4 OVAs, 13 TV specials, and 14 movies. The 20th season of the One Piece anime series was created by Toei Animation and helmed by Tatsuya Nagamine. Toei Animation revealed on April 19, 2020, that the series will be postponed due to COVID-19. They later scheduled the return of the series for June 28, 2020, resuming from episode 930.
Initially, no one anticipated the popularity of this shounen manga series. In fact, Eiichiro Oda himself said that the original intent was to have One Piece last for five years, which means that it would have finished in 2002.
However, it does not look like it is about to get over real soon as the author said so in an interview that he has not expected One Piece to last this long, but that he plans to wrap up each part of the story thoroughly, leaving no loose end.
This would obviously take a long time since the author is in no rush to finish the story. The fans are equally excited to wait for the end and also patient at the same time since there was an issue over Eiichiro Oda‘s health. Oda said that he is least concerned about how the end would be since he knows that it’ll forever be interesting but he has expressed concern about his health, as he wishes to see it through until the end.
The fans think that the series would continue for another 10-15 years and many others think otherwise as every series has to end one day. This is a dreadful thought for every One Piece fan.
