Need For Speed 2021 has commenced development, following the heels of Need For Speed: Heat. An early game footage for Need For Speed 2021 was leaked a while ago. The game plays well and so far the community reaction is good. However, this is reportedly very early gameplay footage which is subject to change over the course of development.

Need For Speed 2021 Gameplay Footage Analysis

As we mentioned earlier the footage seems to be a really early version of the game. There are basic polygonal assets all over the place. The lighting also seems to be bland and non-existent for the most part. This shouldn’t be thought of as a warning or a bad sign because it’s a really early build that was definitely not ready to be shown to the public.

One point that interests me is the decision to playtest and build the mechanics and the driving thoroughly before constructing the environments and the stories are actually a really good move. This ensures that the core of the game is being perfected and everything will be built on top of that. Also, major points of criticism can be given right now which may result in a better final product.

Credit where credit is due, EA does know how to double down on the game juice and feel. However, a major point of concern that is recurring throughout the whole video is the move towards more of the Burnout stuff that Criterion Games is putting into it which focuses more on jumps and drifting focus.

I didn’t notice any significant new elements to the gameplay in this footage but veterans can maybe do that. Did you like the footage for Need For Speed 2021? Are you concerned? Tell us down in the comments and stay tuned to the Profaned Otaku.
