The second Crisis Event for Rainbow Six Extraction is now available, and it will make you rethink what is real. Nightmare Fog is a free limited-time option available until June 2 in which you and your team must brave a perilous purple haze to locate and kill the Toxic Tree that is responsible for the toxic fog. This fog causes Operators to have hallucinations, and the longer they are exposed to it, the higher their Neurotoxin levels become. When those levels reach 30%, you’ll start seeing Archaean adversaries in your head while real Archaeans strive to wipe out your team.

Players can earn new REACT Tech, such as the Rush Pistol, which is a stim pistol that you can use on your teammates or yourself to provide or gain a movement speed boost as well as invulnerability for 15 seconds, just like in Spillover, the first Crisis Event. Players can gain more XP with maxed-out level 10 Operators to rank up to 10 new Prestige advancement levels and obtain unique cosmetic rewards along the way in Nightmare Fog.

You and your team must manage Neurotoxin levels and complete three tasks in three subzones enveloped in nightmare fog to deal with this Crisis occurrence. It’s critical to keep an eye on your Neurotoxin levels as you progress through each subzone. At 30%, you’ll notice and hear phoney adversaries approaching you. Tunnel vision, motion blur, and distorted vision will all appear after you reach 65 percent. At 100%, you’ll see eroding screen edges and your HP will gradually deplete. Keep an eye out for safe areas on the map that are clean of fog and have Neurostim refill stations to lower your Neurotoxin levels. One Neurostim reduces your Neurotoxin level by 35%.

As you go, you’ll come across several tasks with a Nightmare Fog twist. Players must fulfil one of the following objectives in the first subzone: Specimen, Nest Tracking, Triangulation, Hunt, or Shutdown. The second goal is a Decontamination version in which the aberrant nests are spread out across a broader area than usual. This objective will reduce the Toxic Tree’s health by half, giving you a huge advantage against the third subzone objective: destroying the Toxic Tree.

To destroy the Toxic Tree, you and your team must fire anchor points and arch cells to drain the Toxic Tree’s energy, similar to the MIA rescue goal. You will, however, be besieged on all sides by waves of Archaeans, unlike previous MIA scenarios. After you’ve dealt with the anchor points, destroy the Toxic Tree’s core to end the nightmarish fog.

Rainbow Six Extraction is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, PC, Amazon Luna, and Stadia, as well as with a Ubisoft+ or Game Pass subscription.
