Oregairu Season 3 kicks off right where we left in season 2. At the end of Season 2, Hachiman is presented with a situation that, handled in a wrong way could have abolished everything he gained throughout two seasons. Oregairu upfront is a Romcom anime series, however, it handles some of the most important(sad) aspects of real life.
Oregairu Season 2 ended with Hachiman’s answer to the indirect confession from Yui who tried to force a confession/answer from Yukino. Despite being a loner Hachiman has always tried to help people around him. He didn’t want Yui to influence Yukino’s confession so he interrupted them with his answer to Yui’s indirect confession.

Despite knowing there’s a chance that he will lose everything. Hachiman helps Yukino, as he is quite relatable to her. This is something that makes Oregairu one of the most beautifully written light novel/ manga/ Anime. After hearing Hachiman Yukino finally decides that she will not run anymore. She will face her problems, which is her mother and sister.
Since childhood, Yukino’s life was highly influenced by her mother. Meanwhile, she always lived her life under her sister’s shadow. Yukino finally deciding to resolve her issues with her family shows how much her character has developed after meeting Hachiman. The second half of the episode highly focuses on Hachiman and her little sister Komachi.
Komachi has always acted cute and cheerful with Hachiman. However, in the first episode of season 3, we get to see that relationship changing. The little sister who was always cheerful and sweet with his brother now has genuine respect for him. Seeing Komachi this way seems out of character but it is not.
Oregairu S3 Episode 1 highly focuses on the character development of Yukino and Komachi. How their lives have been positively affected by Hachiman. We even get to see some side characters like Kawasaki Saki and her sibling make an appearance. Hachiman’s interaction with Kawasaki is something that many of you will like. The loner delinquent girl has developed affection towards Hachiman. While still not being on equal terms with his little brother.
Since the review is spoiler-free I don’t want to narrate the entire episode. In the end, I want to say that Oregairu Season 3 Episode 1 highlights the changes in some of our favorite characters.
