Sony starts off the video by stating that their focus on the interface this time around maximizing our playtime. The team doesn’t want us to be stuck in menus and screens when we could utilize that time playing the game.

PS5 Control Center

The video first shows off the control center that can be accessed using the PS button on the controller. The control center is made up of different cards that give us information about the games we are playing. We, personally like the fact that the cards are mostly static and not personalized, which should make the interface a bit easier to navigate.

The cards also show activities, which are chunks of the game you are currently playing with the list of objectives you need to complete to progress. There will also be active game hints in the control center for players with PS Plus subscription.

The voice chats and party systems have also been expanded upon with the addition of media share and picture-in-picture mode screen sharing. One more interesting piece of information is that party members will not be able to see media that contains spoilers of games they haven’t completed yet.

PS5 UI: Home Screen

The home screen looks to be a lot similar to the Playstation 4’s home screen. There are some subtle optimizations to the interface to better suit 4K screens. The Playstation Store is integrated into the system rather than being a standalone application.
Apart from that, there are a lot of very small tweaks and additions that you can check out in the video.
