PS5 Build Quality and more

Sony’s newest machine is it’s heaviest and largest to date. It weighs in at around 4.5 kg which is a lot when compared to the 2.1 kgs of the PS4 slim. The images of the console next to a screen show how big it actually looks. I personally think that the curves and unorthodox shapes make it stand out a lot more in comparison to the more laid back last-generation console. You will also need some generous amount of space to seat this console.

When it comes to the cooling, it is reported that the machine draws in air from the vents on the front and pushes the hot air from the back of the console. Reports also suggest low noise levels and temperatures across the board.

PS5 hands on preview: Controller

The DualSense controller is a little hard to explain. It’s really something that you would have to have it in your own hands to tell how it feels. That being said, the haptic feedback, refined motion controls, and adaptive triggers have won over the hearts of people who got to use it. One interesting piece of information is that PS5 will use its ‘X’ button as for confirmation rather than the mix of cross and circle button that we’ve been accustomed to for a long time.

The Performance

The Playstation 5 delivers on its promise of a next-gen experience. Astro’s Playroom and GodFall were two of the games that were given to play in their preview. The reports say that the visuals look really similar to what was promised in the trailers, with ultra-rich details along with smooth frame rates. It’s really amazing to see Astro’s Playroom rendering top tier graphics and running at 60 frames a second without breaking any sweat.

The load times are exceptionally fast and we already knew that as it is one of the advantages Sony has over it’s similarly priced competition. The 5.5 GB/s raw IO throughput delivers in spades. It seems like there is no load stress at all with this newer machine. To learn more about the PS5’s SSD and why it can be a game-changer, click here.
