On June 7, Rainbow Six Siege will commence Operation Vector Glare, the second season of Year 7. Sens, a new attacking Operator from Belgium, will be introduced. Sens employs his R.O.U. Projector System gadget to generate opaque light walls that impede the Defenders’ eyesight and provide the Attackers new tactical options. Sens also introduces a new weapon, the high-capacity POF-9 assault rifle, which will be accessible as part of the Vector Glare Battle Pass at launch, then unlockable with Renown or R6 Credits two weeks later.

Updates to the Vector Glare gameplay

With Operation Vector Glare, all players will receive a slew of free updates, including a new shooting range where you can practise with Siege’s weapons; you can enter the range as any Operator, including ones you haven’t unlocked. A new Team Deathmatch map, titled Close Quarters, is also on the way; it’s the first map developed specifically for TDM, which means fast-paced combat and no defensive setups. Vector Glare is also launching off the first phase of the reputation system, which will punish players that engage in friendly fire purposefully and repeatedly.

Sens and the R.O.U. Projector System

Sens, a three-health, one-speed Attacker that brings great firepower and utility to the battlefield, is a new Operator appearing in Operation Vector Glare. They have either the 417 marksman rifle or the new POF-9 assault rifle in their primary weapon slot, both of which come with a high-capacity magazine. The SDP 9MM pistol or the Gonne-6 are their secondary alternatives, as are a hard breach charge or a claymore for devices.

The R.O.U. Projector System is Sens’ one-of-a-kind device. This contraption resembles a dinner plate with a wheel around its diameter. When Sens tosses the wheel, it will begin rolling as soon as it touches the ground, going in a straight line. If it collides with something, it will ricochet and continue rolling until it runs out of juice and self-destructs. The R.O.U. drops miniature projectors all along the road, creating walls of dazzling blue-green light higher than an Operator and absolutely opaque. The R.O.U. follows a path that connects these barriers, allowing Sens to form long visual blockages. You can simply walk, shoot, or throw electronics over the impediment because it is merely visual.

The strategic interplay of loadouts and gadgets that occurs around a Siege target is intricately linked with Sens’ gadget, and there are even more potential combinations to contemplate. Barbed wire, for example, slows the R.O.U. and reduces the distance it can travel, while a well-placed proximity alert can enable a Defender monitor an entryway even if an R.O.U. wall obscures it. Sens is a new strategic catalyst in Siege, and their hard-hitting loadout makes them one to keep an eye on.
