So Ubisoft held it’s Forward Event today. The event was full of new game announcements and login errors. The conference was just the standard Ubisoft conference with no real surprises and game leaks ahead of announcements. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, Hyper Scape were the main focus of the events. We thought it would be nice to share some thoughts about these games.

Watch Dogs Legion

This was the first game announced at the Ubisoft Forward Event conference. Watch Dogs Legion is the third installment in the Watch Dogs series and takes place in the future London. The main hook of the game is you get to build your Legion by recruiting people from the game world. Every one of these members will have their special perks and you can use them to tackle the objectives in any way you like. I like that the game doesn’t take itself too seriously. The visuals also look great. The main focus is to give the player a lot of freedom and I do wish this game turns out to be great.

Hyper Scape

Hyper Scape is a battle royale game set in a futuristic world. The game does have striking similarities to Apex Legends in terms of movement mechanics and character-based abilities. The map is a futuristic city that is different from the usual island setting seen in every battle royale game. The game also features some Twitch extensions which change the game based on Twitch Polls. The game comes with a 30 tier battle pass. You can try the game for free if you are not done with Battle Royale already.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the next installment in the long-running open-world series. I do tend to criticize Assassin’s Creed harshly but you have to know that comes from a place of love. I want Assassin’s Creed to do pretty well. The game takes place in 7th century England where our character’s goal is to form a settlement in England, a place he’s not welcome at all. The gameplay features raiding settlements, naval combat, and a lot of action. I am personally not happy with the new RPG additions in the games but it’s great to see the hidden blade return. Here’s to hoping that hidden blade instakill also returns.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 was the least shown game in the conference. We only get to see a trailer where we are introduced to the main villain and his son. The game takes place on the island of Yara, which looks like a fictional representation of Cuba. Ubisoft has stated that the game will build upon the mechanics of Far Cry 5 like the Fangs For Hire. I do have a lot of mixed thoughts about Far Cry 5, it’s quest design to be particular but that’s for some other time. One interesting bit of information is the villain’s son has a scar on his eyebrows which looks similar to Vaas’s scar which suggests that they are the same. Ubisoft is also known for its interconnected universe which further solidifies this theory.

Final Thoughts

The conference was again, pretty standard. Elite Squad, a mobile hero-based shooter was also announced at the conference.  Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher, El Sueno from Ghost Recon Wildlands, Montagne from Rainbow Six Siege, and some other characters from past Ubisoft titles were featured in it. Which may indicate that they will be releasing a new Splinter Cell game, please?
