Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action-adventure role-playing game developed by miHoYo. The game is set in the mystical world of Teyvat and you play as a traveller on a quest to save your twin from the chains of an unnamed god.
The Story Of Genshin Impact
As told before, you assume the role of one of the two traveller twins. These twins used to travel from world to world. After an encounter with an unnamed God, one of the twins gets captured. You play as the other twin and embark on a journey to save your other twin.

As you wake up, you are greeted with Paimon, your companion. Soon, the world of Teyvat unfolds around you and you accumulate a diverse roster of characters to take on various dungeons and monsters.
The World And Gameplay Of Genshin Impact
The world of Teyvat is a lush, green and vast expanse of land filled to the brim with chests, dungeons, puzzles and enemy encounters. There are a lot of similarities to the Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. Most of the time spent in Teyvat entails walking and climbing around cell-shaded environments, taking down enemy camps and taking on quests.
It is very much an RPG with level-based progression, loot and stats. Over the course of your quest, you will be on the lookout for various resources and gear to help you and your party level up in order to progress further in the story.
Is Genshin Impact Free To Play?
Yes, the game is indeed free-to-play. The game is available on a variety of platforms including mobile ones. That being said, the game does contain microtransactions.
You can buy a lot of in-game playable characters(gacha-system), experience and resources using real money. The progression system is designed in a way to snatch real-world money from your wallet if you value your time. The level requirements for main quests and items required for upgrades reduce the game into a tedious and repetitive grind. That being said, if you are particularly smart and efficient with your resources, you can avoid these microtransactions.

Genshin Impact is currently available to download on PC, PS4, Android and iOS platforms. The game will make its way to Nintendo Switch in Holiday 2020(TBA). On, November 11, 2020, Genshin Impact will receive it first major update 1.1 that brings new content to the game that includes new playable characters, quality of life changes, a new area and more.
