With the 2021 summer anime coming to a wrap, everyone is excited about the anime that is bound to release this fall or further in the next year. Some of the most exciting anime like Chainsaw Man, Shield Hero, Mob Psycho 100, and many other exciting anime are announced to be released in the future. See what you have to look forward to below.

Here’s a list of 10 upcoming anime that you need to know about.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2

Plot– Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary Japanese boy, gets summoned to an alternate world as a “Shield Hero”, the weakest out of the four summoned heroes. Their sole purpose in this world is to fight inter-dimensional hordes of monsters called Waves.

Release Date– It was announced at Crunchyroll’s 2020 Virtual Expo, that Season 2 would be coming sometime in 2021. However, it was confirmed that The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 will release in April 2022, following a delay to the original Fall 2021 premiere window. Fans can expect season 2 to be simulcast on either Crunchyroll or Funimation, before arriving on other platforms several months later after the finale.

Chainsaw Man

Plot-Chainsaw Man is set in a world where devils are born from human fears but can form contracts with humans to allow them to use a portion of their power.

Release Date- There is no official release date for Chainsaw Man, but the anime is expected in late 2021, with an October or November premiere lining up with the Japanese autumn television season. There is no information about the streaming platform yet. However, a few rumors suggest that Chainsaw Man will be available to stream on Netflix.

Mob Psycho Season 3

Plot– It follows the story of Kageyama Shigeo, a schoolboy blessed with supernatural powers who leads an emotionally disturbed life when he realizes the dangers of his powers.

Release Date- The official Mob Twitter account estimated that Season 3 will be back by the end of 2021. Fans can watch the anime via Crunchyroll and Funimation upon subscription.

Demon Slayer Season 2

Plot– A family is attacked by demons and only two members survive – Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, who is turning into a demon slowly. Tanjiro sets out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family and cure his sister.

Release Date- The anime’s official Twitter handle announced the news in Feb 2021 that the anime will release in 2021. However, there has been no specific date. Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba, is exclusively available in the English subbed version on Crunchyroll. Season 2 of the show will air on the same platform.

Bleach: Thousand Year War Arc

Plot– It follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki who has the ability to see ghosts. Ichigo then becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace.

Release Date- Bleach was confirmed for a 2021 return during the series’ 20th Anniversary Project and Tite Kubo New Work presentation stream 2020, via Crunchyroll. There have been no specific dates. However, it has been speculated to release in the winter of this year.

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War, Season 3

Plot-Despite their feelings for one another, Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya being apparent, begin a contest to see who can get the other to confess their love first, resulting in a series of romantic shenanigans and schemes.

Release Date- The official Twitter account for the series announced that Season 3 had been confirmed, via Funimation, on October 25, 2020. There has been no update since the announcement of this on Twitter but it is likely to be somewhere between late 2021 to mid-2022.

Date a Live, Season 4

Plot– Shido Itsuka, an ordinary high schooler, is tasked to seal the Spirits who cause the “spatial quakes” all around the world. In order to do so, he must make the Spirit fall in love with him and kiss her.

Release Date- Date A Live Season 4 has been confirmed to be released on OCTOBER 12th, 2021. It is also likely that it will be available on the anime streaming site Crunchyroll.

Platinum End

Plot– Follows the story of Mirai Kakehashi, a young student fed up with a life of abuse from his uncle and aunt who raised him since his parents’ death, but is saved by a Guardian Angel called Nasse after attempting to commit suicide. 

Release Date– The official website of the Platinum End anime confirmed that the anime would premiere on October 7th, 2021. Besides the release date, the announcement stated that the anime is listed for 24 episodes and will stream on Crunchyroll

Beastars Season 3

Plot– The series is about Legoshi, a wolf, who attends Cherryton Academy where there is a clear divide between predators and prey. The sudden murder of Tem, an alpaca, further widens the divide and among the chaos, Legoshi meets his forbidden love, a small rabbit named, Haru.

Release Date- Beastars season 3’s Netflix release date will probably be some time in Fall 2022.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2

Plot– A hopeless 34-year-old NEET gets killed during a traffic accident and reincarnates into a fantasy world with both his intellect and memories intact.

Release Date-  The Mushoku Tensei fans can expect Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 finale Episode 23 to release in December 2021 if it premieres in October 2021. The delay in the second cour has pushed the Mushoku Tensei Blu-Ray/DVD release dates. The earlier planned date of October 20, 2021, for Episodes 12 to 17 in Japan has now been rescheduled to January 19, 2022. Episodes 18 to 23 will now release on March 16, 2022, which was earlier planned for December 22, 2021.
