Medaka is a new type of fish introduced in Genshin Impact 2.1 as a part of the Lunar Realm event. It is one of the most common fishes found in Teyvat and also the easiest ones to catch, only requiring Fruit Paste Bait (10x of this item requires 1x Sunsettia and 1x Wheat). You need to catch a whole lot of these fishes to get all formulae, rods, and other rewards like The Catch polearm.

Medaka Fish Locations
Since Medaka is the most common fish in Teyvat, it is present in almost all the fishing spots in Teyvat.
In Liyue you can find them in these areas:
- Mt. Aocang
- Bishui Plain
In Inazuma you can find them in these areas:
- Nazuchi Beach in Kannazuka
- Suigetsu Pool and Sangonomiya Shrine on Watatsumi Island
As for Mondstatdt, they are present in almost all the fishing spots. These include Cider Lake north of Springvale and Stormbearer Mountains, along with Stormterror’s Lair.
