The Hashira are the pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps. They are known to be the greatest warriors who eradicate all the demons in order to protect humanity. Under the direct control of Kagaya Ubuyashiki, Hashira receive a whole lot of respect and admiration from the people in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba storyline, and with good reason: not many humans have a chance against the demons’ strength, cruelty, or murderous tendencies. GYOMEI HIMEJIMA: The Stone Pillar
Gyomei is regarded as the strongest current Hashira, having been recruited to its ranks by Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Despite being blind, Gyomei fights using a spiked ball and hand-axe on a chain — all made of the same materials as Nichirin Blades — with very keen accuracy. Gyomei’s Stone Techniques differ from the Breath users’; chanting and meditation are his ways of increasing and focusing his strength to levels that rival the demons.
GIYU TOMIOKA: The Water Pillar
Giyu is a disciple of Sakonji Urokodaki, having learned the water breathing techniques from the master swordsman. The patterned half of the haori he wears is in honor of Sabito, a young swordsman who died saving all of the other students in his Final Selection Exam. His Demon Slayer Mark greatly increases his fighting strength and, in time, he might become one of histories strongest Demon Slayers.
SANEMI SHINAZUGAWA: The Wind Pillar
Sanemi is the older brother of Genya Shinazugawa and the current Wind Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. The combination of his wind breathing and Demon Slayer Mark has led to him becoming one of the most promising Demon Slayers around.
SAKONJI UROKODAKI : The Former Water Pillar
Sankonji is the former Water Pillar and master of the Tomioka and Tanjiro. Sakonji is rumored to wear his tengu mask because of the demons teasing him about his kind face. He also possess a keen sense of smell — both traits he shares with Tanjiro Kamado.
KYOJURO RENGOKU : The Flame Pillar–
Before dying in battle, he was known to be one of the Hashira’s with insane potential. Not only was he a top swordsman, but Kyojuro had one of the strongest personalities in Kagaya Ubuyashiki’s group of Pillars and was an inspiration to the other Demon Slayers, including those of the higher ranks.
TENGEN UZUI : The Sound Pillar
Tengen is a former Sound Pillar, having retired from official duty after suffering heavy injury in a battle against a member of the Upper Demon ranks. His sound breathing techniques make him a deadly foe for the strongest of demons.
OBANAI IGURO: The Snake Pillar
Obanai’s snake breathing style allows him to adopt much of the slithery techniques of a snake, making him a dangerous combatant. his attitude is strict and straightforward, even if it means someone has to suffer — save Kagaya Ubuyashiki of course.
MUICHIRO TOKITO: The Mist Pillar
Muichiro Tokito is the former Mist Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. Muichiro inherited swordsmanship as a descendant of the first Breath users and is a master of Mist Breathing at just 14 years of age.
SHINOBU KOCHO
Shinobu was the former Insect Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps and sister to the fallen, Kanae Kucho. Her Insect Breathing techniques and customized Nichirin Blade complement her speedy fighting style but it’s Shinobu’s chemistry knowledge that makes her both a major threat to demons and a helper of humankind.
JIGORO KUWAJIMA
Jigoro is Zenitsu’s master and the former Roaring Pillar. In his prime, Jigoro used the lightning breathing technique to deadly effect, before retiring due to old age and injuries.
KANAE KOCHO
Kanae has not been seen fighting often in the series, but her place in the Pillars is a testament to her skills. She was also the former Flower Pillar in the Demon Slayer Corps, as well as the sister of former Insect Pillar, Shinobu Kocho.
