According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Sony is reportedly doubling the production of PlayStation 5. Before, Sony said they will limit the production of the PS5. According to Bloomberg,
Sony Corp. is roughly doubling its PlayStation 5 production to 10 million units this year as it sees the prolonged effects of the Covid-19 pandemic boosting demand for gaming, according to people familiar with its plans.
Furthermore, it show’s how much sony is confident with the launch of PlayStation 5. To be clear, producing 10 million units doesn’t mean 10 M retail units. This query/doubt is cleared by one of the Industry Analyst, Daniel Ahmad.
According to Mr. Ahmad,
10m production units doesn’t mean they’ll all end up in the hands of retailers before the end of the year. That being said, it took Sony til June 2014 to ship 10m units to retail. So if true this does show Sony expects demand for PS5 to far surpass PS4.
