Kanojo Okarishimasu/Rent A Girl Friend Episode 1 Review
From the get-go, Kanojo Okarishimasu deals with some of the real aspects of a relationship. Our main protagonist Kinoshita Kazuya is a wimpy but caring guy whose girlfriend leaves him for no good reason. To cope up with his loss, Kazuya reaches out to a mobile app that lets him book a rental girlfriend.
This marks the entry of our main female lead, Ichinose Chizuru and so does the Unrequited love story[atleast for now] of Kazuya and Chizuru begins. Kanojo Okarishimasu is a romcom but don’t let it fool you.
The anime always surprises you with some beautiful and some sad aspects of a romantic relationship. The anime story is highly focused around the love life of Kazuya as well as the female characters surrounding him.
Kanojo Okarishimasu Story
Kanojo Okarishimasu’s story is not something completely new. As you go deep into the story you will have some cliche moments. So, does this make the anime story boring? No, it doesn’t. The anime story does have cliche moments, however, with its flavor and originality, it overcomes it quite easily.
The main area where Kanojo Okarishimasu outshines many of its competitors is the set of unique characters that complement each other’s character development. It’s like the fate of each character is intertwined with each other. One single action impacts Both Kazuya and the female characters around him. The first episode of Kanojo Okarishimasu is focused on Kazuya, Chizuru, Kazuya’s family, and his break up with Nanami.
Character Design and Animation
Now coming to the animation and character designs. I have to say TMS Entertainment has done an outstanding job with Kanojo Okarishimasu. From the animation to character design, environment, direction, and pacing of the story. Everything is on point.
To be honest I was not that worried about how TMS was going forward with the production of Kanojo Okarishimasu. They are an experienced studio who gave us romance series like Fruits Basket, Kamisama Hajimemashita, Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta, and more. From character models to expression, everything is well balanced.
Voice Acting, Opening OST
Sora Amamiya and Horie Shun have done a great job as voice actors of our MC’s. Chizuru’s character is rather situational as when she’s a rental girlfriend, she’s kind and cute and everything you can add up to to make her the best girl. But, when she’s not playing her rental girlfriend persona, she’s rather dominating and moody and Sora Amamiya has done a great job as a voice actress. The same goes for Shun Horie and others.
Kanojo Okarishimasu’s OST is performed by a Japanese band the peggies and is named, “Centimeter“. They have previously worked on Bunny Girl Senpai Opening and some others. I love their songs/soundtracks. Kanojo Okarishimasu opening ost is love. You cannot be satisfied by listening to it once. Until and unless you keep playing it on repeat and listen to the OST day and night you don’t know how to appreciate art.
