A few hours ago, Bandai Namco Entertainment America revealed the official story preview trailer for the upcoming Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris game. The story preview trailer introduces a new character Medina Orthinanos, with an original storyline. The short preview trailer also features our big boy Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice. The game launches worldwide on July 10, 2020, on all major platforms.
According to Bandai Namco, Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is described as-
For the first time, players can experience SWORD ART ONLINE’s anime storyline in-game format with SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris! Play as the protagonist Kirito and immerse yourself in “Underworld,” a mysterious virtual world set in the anime’s Alicization arc. Featuring intense battle action, stunning JRPG visuals, and an expansive world to explore; your journey through the latest VRMMO SWORD ART ONLINE game is ready to begin!

Sword Art Online Lycoris can be pre-ordered right now for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. PC players should not worry as the game will have a day 1 steam launch. The new character introduced in SAO Lycoris, Medina Orthinanos, has her own goal of clearing her family name. In the story preview trailer, the narrator says ambiguously, “will she be an enemy or a friend”. Now, we all know how things work Kirito and new female characters in the SAO series.
Sword Art Online Lycoris comes with two editions of the game. These are-
- Standard Edition: Includes base game + 200 in-game currency. (Pre- Order Bonus: Design content costumes)
- Deluxe Edition: Includes base game + Premium pass which includes two major expansions of the game + 200 in-game currency. (Pre- Order Bonus: Design content costumes)
Now, the major difference in the two editions for SAO lycoris is the expansion pack. Deluxe edition will have two major expansions of the game along with Standard edition rewards.
