Xbox Game Pass seems to be Microsoft’s primary focus heading into the next generation of consoles. With all its first-party games such as Halo Infinite, Fable, Avowed, etc now confirmed to be a part of its library since day one, Game Pass is indeed the best deal in gaming as of now.

It’s not just the first-party games that are headed to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft is committed to bring popular AAA as well as indie third party games to its Netflix like subscription service. Some of these titles that you can find over on Game Pass right now are-Red Dead Redemption 2, Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain, Nier Automata, to name a few.

Whereas PlayStation’s strategy is to have more timed exclusives in its library such as Bethesda’s Deathloop and Ghost Wire: Tokyo, Microsoft is thinking long term by passing on these games for the considerable amount of time, only to release them later on Xbox Game Pass, at least that’s what I believe.

Keeping that in mind, here are in my opinion the top 5 AAA games that would likely be added to game pass in 2021.

5. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1

The long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 1 launched on PS4 this April. However, the game won’t be headed to PC or Xbox One until April 2021. Square Enix recently announced that the game has sold over 5 million copies on PS4 and that the development of part 2 is in full force. With Final Fantasy 7 Remaster added to the Game Pass library this month and Final Fantasy 15 Royal Edition already a part of the service, treating the Xbox One fans of the series with a day one game pass release next year seems like a plausible choice.

4.Resident Evil 3 Remake

Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 3 this year wasn’t synonymous with the groundbreaking success of last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake. The game was criticized for being an underwhelming re-imagining of the original which lacked in content and clearly didn’t justify its 60$ price tag.
In a recent investor Q/A, the company revealed that they weren’t surprised by the game’s inferior sales in contrast to RE2. RE3 remake sold over 2.7 million copies worldwide in its first two months, which is 55% less than that of RE 2 remake which has sold over 6.6 million copies as of March 2020.

RE 3 remake makes for a perfect addition to the game pass as not only it will allow more players to experience its 6 hours long single-player campaign ( which most of us didn’t because of its high price), but also its multiplayer counterpart- RE: Resistance, which can then find a hefty player base in the Xbox community.

Moreover, Microsoft is looking to add more multiplayer games to its game pass arsenal to justify its game pass ultimate package that comes with Xbox live services.

With Monster Hunter World and Devil May Cry 5( no more) also been a part of the game pass library, expecting RE 3 remake to make its debut in late 2020 or sometime in 2021 seems pretty realistic.

3. Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs Legion was a part of Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase that took place this month. With Microsoft being the marketing partner for both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion, it is safe to assume that the latter may come to game pass at some time.

Most of Microsoft’s third-party deals these days are about the game pass and it wouldn’t be surprising if Watch Dogs is a part of it. The recent preview of the game indicated that the game lacks quality. Even its most ambitious perma-death mechanic is an optional feature, indicating that Ubisoft is not as confident about this release as we were expecting. Add that an overly crowded fall lineup, it’s easy to predict that the game’s sales are going to be disappointing.

With the game pass, however, Watch Dogs Legion seems like a perfect fit, which would otherwise be caught in a whirlwind of big releases such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. With Xbox Series X launching without Halo Infinite this November, Microsoft might not even wait till 2021 to add a big, ambitious AAA title like Watch Dogs Legion in their game pass library.

2. Deathloop

Okay, hear me out. Yes, Deathloop is a PS5 console exclusive and won’t see the day of light on any of the Xbox devices for a substantial amount of time. However, there’s no denying the fact that it won’t be as much as a big release on Xbox Series X (whenever it does), that people will be rushing to buy a one-year-old game at full price, no.

However, it does make sense if it launches on game pass later next year. If you didn’t know you could still play one of Arkane’s most ambitious game till date and my personal favourite: Dishonored 2 on a game pass right now. Here’s hoping that Deathloop gets the Dishonored treatment for the Xbox fans.

1.Cyberpunk 2077

If CD Projekt Red is really, really good at something other than delivering groundbreaking, deep RPGs, it is in being an absolutely transparent and a user-friendly company. CD Projekt Red has always kept their fans first, releasing a huge chunk of DLC’s for free and keeping their PC releases free of any DRM protection. In fact, their last release and undoubtedly their greatest: The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt has been a part of Xbox Game Pass library for as long as I can remember.

Microsoft is the marketing partner for Cyberpunk 2077 as was indicated by the game’s reveal at E3 2018.  If anything can compel gamers to buy an Xbox Series X and game pass subscription in the near future alongside their first-party games are titles such as Cyberpunk 2077.
